This timeline maps two perspectives of journalism history to compare them: early photojournalism and early concepts of objectivity mapped through textbooks. Analyzing these two concepts reveals a number of interesting things. Early illustrated journalism was seen as a form of art. Wood engravers weren't considered journalists but artists. As technology progressed, objectivity became more and more important. Cameras, halftones and more led to illustrators becoming photojournalists.
