REFLECTION:

Going into this, I didn’t know what to expect or what to gain from it. At first, I thought this was just going to be busy work, however, I learned a lot from this experience. First, I stepped into the shoes of a reporter. It was kind of nerve-wracking when going up to strangers and asking for their opinions, yet stepping out of my comfort zone really helped me develop my reporting skills.

When going to the Sigma Kappa Alzheimer’s car show this Saturday, I really was amazed by how the community gathered together to raise money for such an amazing cause. There were tap dancers, food trucks, decorated cars, old-fashioned cars, and many other exhibits. Everyone who attended were eager to donate to such a good cause and it was a lovely thing to witness. Hearing about the stories of those who have been affected by Alzheimer’s in their families was truly inspiring to hear, as they were so passionate about the event they were participating in.

The experience as a whole got me more comfortable in approaching people and tackling subjects that I wasn’t sure how to approach. This was definitely worth the traveling and conversations I embarked on during this journey.
