The Trenton Downtown Association founded in 1986 as a non-profit organization with the goal of making the capital city of Trenton a more competitive location for business owners and an engaging center for workers, residents, and visitors. The Trenton Downtown Association works hard to offer programs that promote economic growth and investment to the city of Trenton. Their priority is to see Trenton boom economically and create public spaces that build a stronger and more resilient city. Trenton has recently not been a very good economically stable city, for many stores and businesses have either closed down or left the city. The goal of the TDA is to have a thriving economy by bringing in more businesses to the city. The Trenton Downtown Association is run by many members who want to look at the city of Trenton grow such as Willard Stanback, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Tom Gilmour, Executive Director, Meaghan Singletary, Project Manage and many other dedicated members who work hard to make Trenton a great city.
- Business Services – The Trenton Downtown Association serves as a vocal advocate for downtown business interests and property owners. The Trenton Downtown Association staff partners with local chambers of commerce to provide a full slate of marketing and public relations services. The TDA plan grand openings, as well as write and distribute press releases, and promote the best that Trenton businesses have to offer.
- Shaping Public Spaces and Beautification – The Trenton Downtown Association has dedicated time to clean and restore the public spaces of Trenton to create a stronger and more resilient city. The TDA plants and maintains each project they start to assure that Trenton stays clean and beautiful. This group gives people more volunteer opportunities to help make their neighborhood a beautiful place. This beautification gives the city a cleaner looks and can attract more businesses to move into Trenton.
- Planning and Advocacy – The Trenton Downtown Association works with advocates and policymakers on policy issues such as; parking rules and regulations, pedestrian safety improvements, bike lane striping, and waste management in the special improvement district. TDA is a member of groups such as the Trenton Green Team, Parking Committee, and Complete Streets working groups. Having an organized and clean city is important and it will attract businesses to come to Trenton and increase the economy of the city.
