Getting to know Trenton and Ewing: WIMG radio
A local and famous music station called WIMG radio, located in Ewing, focuses heavily on gospel music and different religious topics. It is a broadcasting and media production company and religious organization that just so happens to be of the oldest radio stations in the Trenton/Ewing area. It is a diverse and cultural station that is directed towards a primarily African-American audience and black gospel music as an art form. It provides the highest quality of entertainment, news, traffic, weather and public interest programming, twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. WIMG radio expands across all of Mercer, Burlington, Western Monmouth, and Ocean counties.
- WIMG radio was given the title of Radio Station of the Year at the Small Market at the 29th Annual Stellar Awards, which is a national gospel music award show. It is a very popular radio station broadcasted from Trenton and owned by Morris Broadcasting Company of New Jersey, Inc.. WIMG radio has a large audience and holds its own against the bigger city radio stations such as ones in Philadelphia and New York City.
- The Morning Show: “The Lab” with Professor Craig Hayes- Hayes is a local guy from Trenton who is a well known gospel recording artist and personality radio host. He is a part of a music group called Hayes and the United Voices are known for their funky reggae beats and songs about the gospel. Local people can listen to his radio talks on WIMG radio every Monday through Friday at 6-10am.
- “Trenton Talks”- Every Tuesday through 6:00-9:00pm various hosts talk on the air to engage the population of Trenton. Each hour of the special is broken down into 3, one hour segments. “In the Public Interest”, “Today’s Topic”, “Trenton’s 365” are the hourly segments that make us the 3 hour “Trenton Talks”.
