Newspaper History Timeline

This timeline demonstrates an overview of some of the main historical events that contributed to the way newspapers are published, handled, and perceived today. Most of the events are directly related to press history, while a few are relevant to my final paper, a guide to the usage of newspapers for academic research. Readers of that paper can use this timeline to develop a better understanding of the unfolding of events and acquire a clearer understanding of how long newspapers have been around to influence the world.

As seen in the timeline, newspapers have been around a while, although they are rather new when putting the current year into context. They can be both informative and influential, and millions of people throughout the world depend on them to know what’s going on in the world. Their interesting history has been unfolding since the 17th century, and will undoubtedly continue to change as we approach a more and more digitized world.
