The College of New Jersey's water fountain is located in the center of the science complex. The fountain lacks a water source due to cold weather. It is a historical part of the community because students traditionally jump in the fountain. Degradation of water quality on campus is an issue for future students that want to continue the tradition, as the water is affected by pollution. It stems from runoff from parking lots, pesticides from lawn care, and leakage from underground tanks, which all contribute to the issue. People may ignore this because they do not feel they are directly affected. However, all natural water sources are connected, so toxins only accumulate and circuit back into the water of the campus and the fountain.
