Spring 2015 Makeup Trends

Spring is officially upon us breathing in new life from the forest floor to your face (yes your face). It’s time to lighten up, bury your oh-so trendy ox blood lipstick and exhume the soft pink and coral shades long forgotten in the abyss of your makeup bag. When your face looks like a freshly sprouted tulip radiating with morning dew there’s really no telling what you can accomplish for the rest of the day. Here some makeup tips to thaw your clutch on the black eyeliner and feel as Katy Perry did frolicking through a sundrenched meadow while wielding a six foot tall flower in her latest CoverGirl commercial.

The Beauty Department suggests embracing spring fever by adding a touch of metallic eye shadow to your look. Because silver is a daring color to wear, this blog shows you how to pull it off in a subtle yet stunning way. To create a fresh look the author suggests wetting your makeup brushes to achieve a subtle wash of color over your lids before finishing your face with a touch of blush and lip balm.

Steps:

  1. Wet the lid brush in water and dip it in the silver shadow to create a paste. Sweep it across the lid and crease to create a single color wash.
  2. Wet the eyeliner brush in water and dip it in the brown shadow to create a paste. Trace it along the upper lashline as demonstrated on Brooke above. You can also wing it out and up if you prefer elongating your eye.
  3. Add a couple coats of mascara.
  4. If you wear foundation/powder, now is the time to apply it. Then smile in the mirror so your apples pop out and swirl the blush on the top half of them.
  5. Finish by applying the tinted lip balm directly from the tube.

Rather than focusing on the eyes, MakeupGeek.com chose to center the attention around your lips. The look they presented was created by using MAC lip liner in ‘Fashion Boost’, Dose of Color in ‘Love Potion’ and NARS lip gloss in ‘Annees Follies’. While wearing lipstick is less technically difficult than applying eyeshadow, selecting the correct lip color is an acquired skill not to be overlooked.

To achieve this look, start by lining your lips with a purple lip liner. Using the side of the lip liner pencil, apply a sheer coat of lip liner to the rest of your lips. This technique helps intensify your look, and helps your lipstick stay on longer. Next, apply a light purple lipstick all over your lips. My personal favorite is Love Potion by Dose of Color. To add a bit of shine and finish off this look, apply a purple or clear lip gloss over top.

Temptalia informs the reader not only that Clinique carries spring approved cheek colors, but also the names of the new added colors which the reader can buy.
