While the whole of the LGBTQ+ community has made significant strides in visibility and acceptance, the transgender community continues to face unique setbacks. Transgender youths, in specific, are especially vulnerable to institutional and social discrimination. Kay Nieves, a 17-year old living in Bloomfield, has agreed to discuss their experience growing up as transgender and operating in clashing social environments.
