This information about areas of forests and other wooded lands (square kilometers) was collected by UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). It’s interesting to see countries of vastly different sizes, like Luxembourg and Norway, compared side by side. When I added the forest statistics from Russia, there was an enormous gulf between it and the rest of the countries. The UNECE supports the gathering of such statistics by helping national statistical offices and other stakeholders to coordinate their work and fill statistical gaps. It was last updated in 2012.
