A yellow pipe on TCNJ campus exudes the exhaust that has puzzled students of The College of New Jersey for years. The vapor pictured here is steam created by a turbine close to TCNJ. The turbine creates the steam that generates most of the electricity of the campus; it provides temperature regulation as well. However the piping system for the steam is degraded. It does not distribute steam evenly as the mineral rich water from wells that the campus used prior to 1970 corroded the pipes.
