Voter Accessibility

Help America Vote Act of 2002

This act required states to be more aware and accommodating to voters with disabilities. Polling places now have a form that a voter can fill out in person or online, to report any difficulties set voter had while voting or accessing the polling location.

The form is titled: Voter Report Form for Polling Place Accessibility Concerns

Voting Advisory Accessibility Committee

This committee was formed to inspect each polling place within a county, and will inform the county board of elections if there are any inaccessible polling places. The committee will also receive any filed complaints regarding inaccessible polling places, and acting on those complaints.

The committee is comprised of four count election board members, 3 public members, a representative of the county executive or governing body, at least one person with a disability, and at least one person with ADA training.
