How Etsy is Used by an Everyday Consumer

By: Clifford Horner

Featuring: Alexandra Giovanelli (Rider University ’22)

In aspirations of building an Etsy blog to feature up and coming part-time, and full-time creators, I decided to interview Alexandra Giovanelli. Alexandra is a 21 year old college student, and fits the type of demographic that Etsy draws. She explains why she started scrolling for products on Etsy, as well as how she uses filters when she shops. We use real life examples to bring Alex’s unique perspective to life. Also included in the interview is a question on who she thinks most of her products come from. When buying a product she explains who, and why she thinks made the product. This helps tackle a strategic issue in developing a platform to feature Etsy creators on a third party blog. Finally, the most critical question I ask is whether or not she would use my idea of an Etsy blog to feature up and coming artists and creators. This audio provides a very interesting dive into what goes through the average Etsy consumer’s mind. With a website and a blog platform on the horizon, I hope you enjoy this clip!
