A Beginning

  1. What are you hoping to accomplish with a background in journalism?

I want to be able to get my information in the best way possible. Nowadays it’s incredibly difficult to get accurate news or any news at all, as heard in the video, Lolly is completely ignored and the door slammed in her face when trying to find out some news

  1. What skills do you already bring to the table?

-I’ve always been a reader and a writer, whether it be short stories to speeches to articles for several school newspapers.

-I’m detail and structure oriented

  1. What’s the biggest problem that you see that people with journalism can help solve?

Today in the media, millions of people tell their side of the story, leading their stories with opinion. That shouldn’t be the way news is spread, with opinion and thoughts of the narrator influencing the audience. The reader should be able to read the facts and form opinion of their own

  1. What are your reactions to Jeff Jarvis’ comments?

There are many points in which I completely agree with Mr. Jarvis’ comments, specifically two he makes back to back closer to the beginning. He makes a point of saying that there is very little government support for the media, and that we can’t rely on the government or God to give us journalism we have to build it ourselves. This point I agree with the most because looking at how and what members of our government post (namely our president), I feel is opinionated much more often than not. This is concerning because if opinions are what we get instead of solely facts, that limits the readers or audience from being able to form their own opinions.
