Press History Final Project

Introduction-
“Since at least Donald Trump’s election, our media have been in the grip of an astonishing, self-inflicted crisis. Despite Trump’s constant railing against the American press, there is no greater enemy of the American media than the American media. They did this to themselves,” says journalist for the website the Federalist, Daniel Payne. Fake news is a hot topic in American government, and is a very real crisis. However, this phenomenon didn’t just pop up when Trump took office. That being said, with Trump using Twitter as a way to combat fake news, we are seeing more and more very real examples. This timeline will show examples of fake news regarding Mr. Trump after he won the election, intertwined with fake news stories of the past. As future journalists, it is important to learn from past examples, in order to do better for the future.

Conclusion-
Overall, fake news is all around us. It is up to our educators to teach young students the dangers of fake news, and for students to go around and spread the word on what is real and what is fake. It is also important for all Americans to get up and do their own research and not rely on their friends or social media to get all the facts. We must all act as fact checkers to verify information before we go spreading what we hear.
