We learned the layout of the campus in much more detail than we previously understood. As two of the members of our group are Freshman, they have no idea where anything is, except for their classes and food. This is relevant to Journalism in the real world because Journalists often visit new places which are unfamiliar to them. Thus, they have to explore in order to engage with the community around them. We got to practice this in real time as the Sophomore in our group showed us places we didn't know existed around campus. We also learned how to utilize Twitter to help promote our work and spread information that readers or viewers may be interested in. We have gained valuable experience interviewing both professionals and peers. Although Twitter is commonly used as a platform for 'Fake News' and speculation, we learned how to use it to our advantage with real Journalism. Since social media is the most used source of information or communication, today's generation can connect with news outlets and with journalists from not only their own areas, but around the world.
