The Trenton Conservatory Mansion is an establishment located in Trenton that serves as the city’s center for the arts. The Conservatory Mansion is located within walking distance of the newly renovated Trenton Transit Center, allowing anyone visiting Trenton to stop by an experience the bustling artistic movement in the New Jersey’s capital. The Conservatory Mansion was originally The Trenton Conservatory of Music in 1920 by Julliard piano professor William O’Toole. However, in 2005, it was purchased by the Ivey family, one of which named Jacqui remembers taking piano lessons there in her youth. For five years, the family worked on restoring the building, equipping the space with multiple dance studios, a concert space, and a continuing and consistent series of classes, lectures and other programs regarding the arts. The Mansion now acts as a hub allowing artists from community to display their work, teach their fellow artists, and perform for a willing and engaged audience. The Conservatory hosts many workshops and artistic displays including artists from numerous fields such as authors, poets, musicians, vocalists, photographers, filmmakers, videographers, and even graphic designers! Because The Conservatory Mansion allows Trentonians to express themselves, be an audience to artists, and become students to those who want to teach their handiworks, the Conservatory Mansion is a mainstay for the arts in the Trenton/Ewing community.
