Transportation in Ewing Faces Cutbacks and Adjustments

The Ewing Township has announced changes in the SEPTA public transportation system as of April 29th adding to the temporary cuts on public transit connection the mercer county community to main lines.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation system is undergoing a two-step CSX-Septa separation project due to growth in demand amongst its track.
“SEPTA West Trenton ridership has increased by more than 60 percent over the last decade,” announced the SEPTA Website in August.
Stacie Sherman, chief of Bloomberg Trenton Bureau has been working on keeping up with the politics of New Jersey public transit system who has also faced cutbacks.
In March, Sherman reported, “New jersey’s capital investment had fall 19 percent since 2002 despite a 20 percent growth in ridership.”
Yet, riders find themselves paying a higher fare for the same conditions of overcrowded and trains with again powers systems linking the area to major cities such as manhattan.
“Usually, I take either-or but lately it’s whatever is running,” said William Walker and Ewing native.
While both transit system function independently, many locals like William are faced with the inconsistent schedule and unexpected commutes on his way to work in Philadelphia.
“this is a big topic for Bloomberg. In terms of public transportation provided by the state we see an influx of money with little result for the people, it’s definitely a red flag,” said Sherman in a phone interview.
“New Jersey Transit rail commuters are paying more even as they endure crowding, an aging power system, and limited capacity in Hudson River tunnels that are the link to Manhattan. On June 30, the state will have exhausted its five-year, $8 billion funds for highway and rail projects. Democrats who control New Jersey’s legislature say a gasoline-tax increase is the only way to replenish the account; Governor Chris Christie, a second-term Republican, has said he won’t approve the higher fees unless tax cuts are made elsewhere.” -Bloomberg

As for SEPTA, shuttle bus is scheduled to compensate for the train repeater for the weekend but locals should make adjustments to accordingly.
